What is collagen?

Collagen is a protein which is the most abundant substance in our organism and is associated with many benefits.

What types of Collagen are there?

There are 21 different types of collagen and each one acts on a different part of the body.

The most common are Collagen Type I and Type II. Type I has a greater presence in the bones, skin, cornea and tendons while Type II is almost exclusively found in cartilage. It is important to recognize this difference in order to take one product or the other since each collagen is located in a different part of the body.

In addition to these types of collagen, there should also be awareness of their different extraction processes since it determines whether the structure of the protein is modified. It can be extracted without denaturing (bio-active) or with denaturing (Hydrolyzed)

If it is not denatured (non-denatured), the collagen maintains its complete structure and therefore, does not lose its properties. Nevertheless, if it is denatured or hydrolyzed, the structure of the molecule changes and it loses properties and consequently, there is a need to increase the daily dose in order for the organism to obtain benefits.
